You can now buy BIKE+Train tickets for TGV and INTERCITES (Except in DUPLEX TGV) online at Voyages-sncf.com.

A bike that has been dismantled and packed into a case measuring 120 x 90 cm maximum is treated as an item of hand luggage and no booking is required.

If the bike transport service is not available for part of your trip, you cannot book it online.

If you wish to transport your bike without dismantling it, you must book the bike service at the same time you buy your train ticket.

A tip from Voyages-sncf.com: If you have not been able to take your bike with you, the majority of French cities offer a bike hire service. In Paris, "Vélib" bike hire is not expensive. This service is ideal for those who still want to cycle, even in the city.

It is not possible to take your bike on all types of train. Check that the service is available and read all the necessary information in the special sections:

On TGV, TGV and ICE (between France and Germany) and TGV France-Italy trains

Dismantled and carried in a special case measuring 120 x 90 cm maximum, your bike is treated as an item of hand luggage.

If you have not dismantled your bike, you can stow it in the bike space available on some mainline trains or in the luggage wagon: on some TGVs there is a special bike area that can take four bikes. The booking fee is €10.

In 1st class, all bikes must be folded or dismantled.

On Eurostar trains (travel between France, Belgium and the UK)

Several conditions apply to the type of bicycle you wish to transport, if you have:

  • A folding bicycle:

You may board all Eurostar trains, so long as it is not longer than 85 cm when folded. Before boarding, it should be placed in a protective bag which covers the entire bicycle. Otherwise, it will have to be registered with the luggage service.

  • Non-folding bicycles

All non-folding bicycles, or those longer than 85 cm, must be registered with the luggage service. This service is available on journeys starting from Paris, Lille and Brussels with London as the final destination.

Several options are available for transporting your non-folding bicycle:

Disassembled bicycle in a bag

Using a padded bag is the best way to protect your bicycle. If you don't own one, EuroDespatch can provide one (cost included in the booking fees). If you choose this option, please go to the luggage service counter between 60 and 90 minutes before the train departs in order to disassemble your bicycle.

Non-disassembled bicycle

If you do not wish to disassemble your bicycle, EuroDespatch can transport it as-is, but the number of spaces available is limited.

To find out about availability, please contact luggage services in the following manner:

  • E-mail : eurodespatch@eurostar.com
  • Phone : +44 (0)3448 225 822

On TGV-Lyria trains (travel between Switzerland and France)

Your bicycle can travel with you, without any need to book a space. You simply need to:

  • Disassemble your bicycle
  • Put it in a transport bag (maximum size: 120 x 90 cm),
  • Put it in the luggage space on the Lyria TGV high-speed train.

Good to know! You can reserve a bicycle space using the Train + Bicycle Service

This service is available for non-disassembled bicycles without bags attached, on most TGV Lyria high-speed train routes, in cars 1 to 11.

To reserve a bicycle bracket or a space in the bicycle section, you must make your bicycle booking when buying your TGV Lyria high-speed train ticket. This will cost an extra €10.

On Renfe-SNCF trains (travel between Spain and France)

Your bicycle is considered as luggage and must be dismantled and stored in a cover of 120x90cm max.
